Meet the Team - Years 7-11

MRS SUE COSNETT
Deputy Head (Pastoral)

As Deputy Head of Pastoral Care I manage the pastoral team in the School and take responsiblity for managing the welfare of students in the 7-11 years.

HEADS OF YEAR 2011

Year 7 : Mrs S Gaudion

Year 8 : Mr C Du Feu

Year 9: Mrs C Carter

Year 10: Mrs J MacGregor

Year 11 : Mr M Cunningham

Every student joins a Tutor Group on entering the school and remains in that Group throughout Years 7-11. During this time students have different Tutors as outlined below:

  • Year 7 Tutors : 1 year
  • Years 8 & 9 Tutors : 2 years
  • Years 10 & 11 : 2 years

Tutors act as a key adult figure for the students and help and support their students. They offer time to discuss any problems or concerns, hold individual reviews of the students’ progress and assist them in taking increasing responsibility for themselves, for their academic work, appearance and behaviour. Heads of Year monitor the welfare and academic progress of each student in their year, lead their Year Tutor team and organise Year Group Assemblies and activities.

Parents are encouraged to contact the school if they have any concerns or problems relating to the welfare or academic progress of their child. They may ask to speak to the Tutor, Head of Year or the myself as Pastoral Deputy Headteacher.

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMME

Guernsey Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre is a candidate school* for the Diploma Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education—that we believe is important for our students. * Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) or the Diploma Programme (and in addition the IB Career-related Certificate). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes visit www.ibo.org
