ATTENDANCE AND HOLIDAYS
ARRIVAL AT SCHOOL
We cannot take responsibility for students who arrive at school before 8.20am.
ILLNESS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY
Students must report to reception if they feel unwell.
REGISTRATION and ABSENCE
The school has a computerised registration system. At first bell (8.40am) all students register in their tutor groups. Any absence of a student should be reported to the school office by telephone before 9.00am and a phone call is also required on any subsequent days. For a period of absence of 3 or more days, a letter of explanation is required on return of the student to school. Those who arrive after 8.40am must sign a late slip. Absences will be checked, and lateness will be monitored.
LUNCH-TIME
A wide range of hot and cold food is available for purchase in the school cafeteria. Students should eat in the cafeteria or in their social areas. Hot food must be consumed in the cafeteria. Students in Years 7 - 11
are not permitted to leave the school premises at lunchtime without the agreement of both the school and their parents. A letter will be sent home in September to explain our procedure.
HOLIDAYS
Parents are advised that family holidays taken in term time have a serious effect on school work. If this is unavoidable and more than one week is involved, then a letter must be sent to the Education Department, and copied to the Headteacher, to request permission. Parents who wish to withdraw their children for holidays of more than 5 school days must request permission from the Director of Education, Mr D Neale.
