Grammar School

In view of the PTA’s charitable status, the PTA reviewed the current Constitution and is proposing to make a number of changes as a result of that review.

The revised PTA Constitution (in both pdf and word doc. versions) can be found below. We propose to table this for approval at the AGM later this year.

The main changes to note are as follows:-

  • Charitable status amendments – Clauses 6 and 12;
  • Composition of Committee and Elections – Clauses 5 and 6;

[We have included a new category of “helpers” termed “nominated volunteers” who support the work of the Committee and help organise events and fund raising activities. This is designed to allow parents who would like to be involved with the school but do not wish to make a commitment to the Main PTA. They have a right to attend Committee meetings but do not have a right to vote at General Meetings. Being a nominated volunteer can be a gentle introduction to the Committee and such volunteers may well go on to become a fully elected member with full voting rights.]

Minor amendments:-

  • Name- Clause 1
  • Objects- Clause 2
  • Titles- Clause 3
  • Quorum – Clauses 5,8,9 and 13
  • Meetings – Clauses 7 and 8
  • Accounts review – Clause 11
  • Insurance- Clause 14
  • Dissolution notification – Clause 16

Please provide any comments on the proposed revised constitution by email to:-

Caroline Bradley:-

Notice will be given for the PTA Constitution to be revised at the AGM later this year subject to the approval of PTA Members.
